This is a multi-year process, initiated by the Lower Delaware Wild & Scenic Management Council, to consider the potential expansion of the Lower Delaware River Wild & Scenic designation. Currently undesignated river segments and tributaries are being reviewed and studied with regard to their eligibility and suitability for inclusion in the National Wild and Scenic River System. The LDWS Management Council and its governing body have a Cooperative Agreement with the Delaware River Greenway Partnership to coordinate a study committee that includes members from watershed towns, municipalities and agencies, and non-profit organizations. The study committee will identify the potential special values of undesignated sections and tributaries, will seek grassroots and municipal support, and prepare a proposed Management Plan Amendment. Once a Management Plan Amendment is formally approved by the Management Council, expected in 2025, expanded designation legislation can be proposed:
